The Covington County Chapter of the American Red Cross works hard everyday to provide the best in emergency services, educational and preparedness information, and health and safety services to the people of Covington and Conecuh Counties in south Alabama.

In order to provide those services, our chapter is constantly working to increase our response capabilities and technology. Because our funds are primarily designated for our relief operations, we seek your help. You can help by making a donation to the local chapter of cash, or the following items:

  1. A late-model minivan. Our chapter responders are constantly on the road traveling throughout Covington and Conecuh Counties to deliver service to clients affected by disaster. Currently, chapter responders must use their personal vehicles to respond. A mini-van would give the responders a means to respond quicker and more effectively by transporting materials to and from shelters and disaster sites.
  2. A late-model compact or midsize car. Again, with a chapter vehicle, our responders can assist clients more quickly and effectively - by already having a vechicle packed with response materials.
  3. New computers. In an effort to move to an operation that utilizes as little paper as possible, much or our casework is performed on computers. Computers with Windows XP are the most compatible with our system.
  4. Cots, blankets, and other shelter supplies. Ensuring each client in a shelter is as comfortable as possible is a big task - and one we take seriously. The addition of more cots and blankets will help us achieve this task.

If you would like to help us fulfill our wish list, please contact Jeffery Biggs, executive director, at 334-428-2680, or at redcross@alaweb.com or biggsjef@usa.redcross.org.

All donations to the Covington County Chapter of the American Red Cross are tax-deduction eligible to the fullest extent allowed by United States tax law.
